Understanding my theme and blog

My theme for this blog, i would say is "Be happy". Do what you want to make yourself happy. My blog is called A Cross Country Runner's Life becuase i am a serious, hard working cross country runner and it makes me happy. I have been running competitively for about 6 years now and i have loved every minute of it. When im mad, i go for a run. When im stressed, i go for a run. When im bored, i go for a run. Running is a passion to me and it keeps me happy.

This is a picture of me at a cross country meet when i was in highschool. I miss highschool and my highschool cross country team more than anything. Im smiling in this picture, i have no idea why.
Running might make me happy but it sure is hard. To do what i do you have to have a good mind set, you have to know what you want and just go for it. Nothing's easy, if it was everyone would be doing it. With being a competitive athlete you have to train hard and long. In high school we ran every day, had meets on saturdays, and had sundays off. When i came to college, it was different. we ran 6 days a week no matter what. I went from running 10 miles a week in highschool to running 20-25 at college, it was a big change but it was all worth it when i broke my own record by 30 seconds. You can do anything you set your mind to, you just have to put in work. Nothing comes easy.

Thoughts on Social Networking

Social Networking

There is both good and bad effects from social networking but without it, life would be different. I have a 22 year old brother who was sent off to afghanistan last year, he was not aloud to have his phone so the only way i could keep in direct contact with him was through social networking. It would be hard not to have contact like that with a loved one for year, so i am very thankful for social networking.

From Reading Negitive effect of scoial networking, it makes me realize how much soical networking is effecting our every day lives. It could be simple stuff like, socializing or getting bad grades. Facebook and Twitter is two of the biggest social netwroks that people love to get on. It all takes away from time and studying. It could even turn horrific, like if someone starts talking trash about someone on twitter or facebook, that is cyber bullying and could cause a great deal of nonsence. When students get bored of studying, they turn to some site and stay on for hours and never get any work done and their grades go down. The negitive effect of social networking override the good effects.
Reading Positive Effects Of Social Networking shows that social networking is part of a teens everyday life. It's how friends stay in contact if one moves far away, it helps people build friendly relationships with people they dont know or people they cant see. News travels fast on twitter and facebook, that's how people stay updated on other peoples everyday lives. Im a college student, and with facebook i can keep up with my friends that i graduated with, i can see what their doing and stay in contact with them.

Digital Smarts - Video Response

Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts

This video is very encouraging to me. It encourages me to be open minded with my students when I walk into my classroom to teach for the first time. Digital technology is one of the world’s fastest growing tactics. We learn something new about it every day. In this generation, kids use digital technology to play video games, do homework, or research and much more. Students probably know a lot more than we give them credit for. My class will definitely be opened minded when it comes to work. In this video, the teacher had students teach the class how to work the technology with the assignment, and she learned something from them. It shows that us as teachers go in the classroom to teach but also learn from the students as well.
With technology like this in the classroom, students are able to learn from themselves. This is important because as students get older, they won’t have someone by their side telling them what or how to do something. This helps them grow independently. Digital Technology is like the teachers of the world; it teaches and helps students learn on their own.
Digital technology is fast growing; it helps people in their everyday lives. If you give a student the topic of “What was 911?", students can use the internet to research and learn all about it and then share what they have found to the class, which is teaching the class what they have acknowledged. Digital technology is very helpful and important to the world and I think it’s important to bring into classrooms because it helps students learn new things that a normal teacher wouldn’t be able to do. It will help students get further in life than they would with a piece of paper, pencil and a teacher telling them when president Obama became president. Students can do further research into who that president really was.
