Digital Smarts - Video Response

Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts

This video is very encouraging to me. It encourages me to be open minded with my students when I walk into my classroom to teach for the first time. Digital technology is one of the world’s fastest growing tactics. We learn something new about it every day. In this generation, kids use digital technology to play video games, do homework, or research and much more. Students probably know a lot more than we give them credit for. My class will definitely be opened minded when it comes to work. In this video, the teacher had students teach the class how to work the technology with the assignment, and she learned something from them. It shows that us as teachers go in the classroom to teach but also learn from the students as well.
With technology like this in the classroom, students are able to learn from themselves. This is important because as students get older, they won’t have someone by their side telling them what or how to do something. This helps them grow independently. Digital Technology is like the teachers of the world; it teaches and helps students learn on their own.
Digital technology is fast growing; it helps people in their everyday lives. If you give a student the topic of “What was 911?", students can use the internet to research and learn all about it and then share what they have found to the class, which is teaching the class what they have acknowledged. Digital technology is very helpful and important to the world and I think it’s important to bring into classrooms because it helps students learn new things that a normal teacher wouldn’t be able to do. It will help students get further in life than they would with a piece of paper, pencil and a teacher telling them when president Obama became president. Students can do further research into who that president really was.
